John Herdt

Memorial services for John Walter Herdt were held Friday at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, Overland Park. Inurnment followed at the Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Herdt, 82, passed away on July 14, 2008.
He was born October 2, 1925 in Russell. He was employed in the telecommunications industry for 40 years before retiring in 1983. He had lived in Sun Lakes, Ariz. since 1995. Memberships include Russell Lodge #177, AF & AM; York Rite; Scottish Rite; Abdallah Shrine and past-Potentate in 1975; Royal Order of Jesters, Court 93; Sun Lakes Lions Club; the Methodist church and the Independent Telephone Pioneers Association.
John was preceded in death by his first wife, Jewell and a daughter, Marilyn “Kay” Wolfe. Survivors include his wife, Peggy; children, Bud Herdt, Arlene Puhr, Kathy Davis, Karen Orf, Chip Harris, Nancy Sue DeSisto and Chris Harris; siblings, LeRoy E. Herdt, Irene J. Hurst, Helen L. Jordan, Robert E. Herdt, George M. Herdt and Ruth E. Penner; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
