Herman Eugene McAfee 1924 - 2008 McLouth

Graveside services for Herman Eugene McAfee, 83, Coffeyville, Kan., will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at McLouth Cemetery.
Mr. McAfee died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at Windsor Place in Coffeyville.
He was born Dec. 9, 1924, in Winchester, Kan., the son of Lacy Herman and Lydia Marie Dixon McAfee. He attended school in Valley Falls, Kan. He later moved to Caney, Kan., and then to Coffeyville.
Mr. McAfee served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946 as gunner’s mate, petty officer 3rd Class. He worked as a rancher in Jefferson County, Madison, Longton, Sedan, Independence in Kansas and Pawhuska, Okla., and retired in 1997.
He married Esther Van Druff on July 15, 1944, in Valley Falls. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Gloria McAfee, Hugo, Okla., and Judith Whitson, Coffeyville; two sons, Richard, Caney, and Kenneth, Madill, Okla.; four brothers, James, Donald, Eldon and Russell; and three sisters, Marge, Norma and Sharon; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Quisenberry Funeral Home in Tonganoxie.
