Norma Lee Brown 1930 - 2009 Lansing

Services for Norma Lee Brown, 78, Lansing, are Friday, Jan. 9 at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at her youngest son’s home in Leavenworth, with her family at her side.
She most recently was a resident of Golden Living Center in Lansing. She was born July 4, 1930, in St. Joseph, Mo., the eldest daughter of the late Robert Lee and Agnes Fern (Bibbins) McGaughy.
On Dec. 8, 1949, she married Warren G. Brown of Tonganoxie. He preceded her in death in 1983.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by three children, Frank Dennis Brown, Michael Harding Brown and Cynthia Marie Lockhart; and a brother, Thomas McGaughy.
Norma worked in nursing for many years, retiring from the Leavenworth VA Medical Center. She enjoyed helping others, taking care of her grandchildren, and she loved to care for the elderly. She was affectionately known as “Grandma Brown” in the Midwest, “Tappy-Tappy” in Texas, and as “Downtown Norma Brown” at the Golden Living Center.
She is survived by her children, Richard Brown of Fort Worth, Texas, Maurice Brown of Casper, Wyo., Gary Brown of Leavenworth, Sandra Clark of Parkville, Mo., Ella Brown of Fort Worth, Texas, Mark Brown of Leavenworth, and Steve Brown of Leavenworth; her siblings, Robert (Cecilia) McGaughy, Arthur McGaughy, Frances Thomas, Rozetta Gray, all of St. Joseph, Mo., Mable Brown, Carolyn Harris and Carrie May; 30 grandchildren; and 51 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8 at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home.
