Dorothy M. Saving 1926 - 2009

Services for Dorothy M. (Porth) Saving, 82, Tonganoxie, will be 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, May 6, at the Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 14308 Fairmount Rd., Basehor.
Burial will follow in Bonner Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Saving died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Hillside Village Nursing Home in De Soto.
She was born Sept. 14, 1926, in Kingsville, Mo., and was a longtime resident of the Bonner Springs area. She spent the last 26 years with her husband, Donald F. Saving Sr., in Tonganoxie.
Mrs. Saving was a founding member of both Risen Savior Lutheran Church in Basehor and Eammaus Lutheran Church in Bonner Springs. Her strong Christian faith was represented through her dedication to many church organizations, including teaching Sunday school and more than 50 years supporting the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
For 35 years, she was a dairy farmer and raised five children in Bonner Springs. She enjoyed sewing and gardening with her family, and making special gifts for each new baby. Her lifelong dreams were spent traveling with her husband, Don, across the country, where together they camped, fished and made new friends.
She is survived by her children, Linda and Larry Hylton, De Soto, Kathy and Robert Davoren, Basehor, Paul and Susan Porth, Bonner Springs, Vickie and Michael White of Bonner Springs; Jeanine and Paul Bush, Bonner Springs, Peter and Kathy Saving, Dallas, Diana and Roger Woods, Bonner Springs, Robert and Toni Saving, Topeka, Eugene and Beverly Saving of Basehor, Fredrick and Debbie Saving, Bonner Springs, Nedra Ellsworth, Liberty, Mo., and Phillip Saving, Kansas City, Kan; 26 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald F. Saving, Sr., in 2008 and his son, Donald F. Saving, Jr., in 1989.
