Richard Charles Wolfe 1952 - 2009 Lawrence

Services for Richard Charles Wolfe, 57, Lawrence, were Friday, May 8 at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie.
He died May 4, 2009, at his home.
He was born March 26, 1952, in Leavenworth, the son of Glenn Wolfe and Betty Cheasbro Wolfe.
He married Judi Bowles on June 3, 1973, in Lawrence.
Mr. Wolfe graduated from Kansas University in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in botany. He was owner and president of Wolfe’s Landscape and Irrigation, Inc. of Lawrence and Topeka, which he founded in 1979 and operated for 30 years.
Mr. Wolfe was active in public policy at both the local and state level.
He was instrumental in drafting Senate Bill 611 in 1994 for the state of Kansas concerning innovations in irrigation systems and regulations. Mr. Wolfe was a member of the Professional Lawn Care Association of Mid-America, Kansas Turf Grass Foundation, American Landscape Association, and Mid-America Green Industry Council. He was listed as an honored professional in the National Register’s Who’s Who In Executives and Professionals, and featured in the nationally publicized Landscape and Irrigation Magazine for his accomplishments.
Mr. Wolfe had an affinity for antiques, golf and history of the United States. He was known for his encyclopedic knowledge of the American Civil War. He loved animals, especially dogs and horses.
He is survived by his wife, Judi, of the home; daughter, Tara Wolfe and partner AJ Stolfus, Olympia, Wash., and daughter Laura Wolfe and husband Jeremy Hess, Lawrence.
