Dorothy M. Saving 1926 - 2009

Tonganoxie — Services for Dorothy M. (Porth) Saving, 82, Tonganoxie, were Wednesday, May 6, at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, Basehor.
Burial was in Bonner Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Saving died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Hillside Village Nursing Home in De Soto.
She was born Sept. 14, 1926, in Kingsville, Mo., and was a longtime resident of the Bonner Springs area. She spent the past 26 years with her husband, Donald F. Saving Sr., in Tonganoxie.
Mrs. Saving was a founding member of both Risen Savior Lutheran Church in Basehor and Eammaus Lutheran Church in Bonner Springs. Her strong Christian faith was represented through her dedication to many church organizations, including teaching Sunday school and supporting the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League for more than 50 years.
For 35 years, she was a dairy farmer and raised five children in Bonner Springs. She enjoyed sewing and gardening with her family, and making special gifts for each new baby. Her lifelong dreams were spent traveling with her husband, Don, across the country, where together they camped, fished and made new friends.
Survivors include her children, Linda and Larry Hylton, De Soto, Kathy and Robert Davoren, Basehor, Paul and Susan Porth, Vickie and Michael White, Diana and Roger Woods and Fredrick and Debbie Saving, and Jeanine and Paul Bush, all of Bonner Springs, Peter and Kathy Saving, Dallas, Robert and Toni Saving, Topeka, Eugene and Beverly Saving of Basehor, Nedra Ellsworth, Liberty, Mo., and Phillip Saving, Kansas City, Kan; 26 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Donald F. Saving Sr., died in 2008; a son, Donald F. Saving Jr., died in 1989.
