Harry Marvin Sullivan Jr. 1926 - 2010 Tonganoxie

Services for Harry Marvin Sullivan, Jr., 84, Tonganoxie, formerly of Gardner, will be 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 18, at West Haven Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at De Soto Cemetery, De Soto. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, also at the church.
Mr. Sullivan died Sept. 11, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence.
He was born Jan. 1, 1926, in Lansing to Harry Marvin Sullivan, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Mahanes) Sullivan. He graduated from Argentine High School. Mr. Sullivan served in the U.S. Navy. He married V. Ruth (Hill) Amego on May 30, 1975, in De Soto. He worked 30 years for Griffin Wheel Co. in Kansas City, Kan., retiring in 1986 as a melting foreman. He was a member of West Haven Baptist Church and a former member of De Soto Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church. He was a member of the VFW in De Soto, Good Sam Stanley Steamers Camper Club and Country Kickers Square Dancers. An avid sports fan, Kansas University Jayhawks were his passion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruth, and son Wayne LeRoy Sullivan.
He is survived by children Sharon L. (Jack) Nichelson, Kansas City, Mo., Donna L. (Jerry) Gambrill, Tonganoxie, Linda M. (Terry) Dowding, Lawrence, and Steven (Susan) Amego of Leavenworth; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and stepbrothers Charles Morris Sullivan and Marion Jones.
