Estelle Marie (Stevens) Huey 1915 - 2011 Tonganoxie

Services for Estelle Marie (Stevens) Huey, 95, Tonganoxie, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, at United Methodist Church, Tonganoxie. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa, KS.
Mrs. Huey died Thursday, Jan. 6, at Tonganoxie Nursing Center.
She was born Oct. 26, 1915, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Dr. Delos and Blanche Combs Stevens. Mrs. Huey was a teacher and principal for 23 years in Colorado, Montana and Oregon. She was also an assessor for special needs children and a reading specialist. She developed a supplemental reading program in the 1960s for schools in Larimer County, Colo.
Mrs. Huey was a member of Tonganoxie United Methodist Church, PEO Chapter HS, Tonganoxie Historical Society and United Methodist Women.
Her husband, Ben M. Huey, died earlier.
Survivors include two daughters, Marie Elise Henderson, Grafenwoehr, Germany, and Marilyn Margaret Marquand, El Cajon, Calif.; a brother, Dr. Phillip Stevens, Tonganoxie; and two grandchildren.
There will be a PEO service at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Quisenberry Funeral Home with visitation following until service time.
