Bernard "Stub" Foley 1915 - 2011

Mass of Christian Burial was Aug. 24 for Bernard “Stub” Foley, 95, Northglenn, Colo., in Thornton, Colo.
Burial was in the Bennett Cemetery.
Mr. Foley died Aug. 20, 2011, in Northglenn, Colo. He was born Aug. 25, 1915, to Joseph Francis and Mary (Coyne) Foley at Linwood. He was one of eight children and is survived by three sisters and one brother. He attended school in Tonganoxie and Linwood. As a young man, he and his brothers played on the radio and for many dances in the Tonganoxie area — Joe on the guitar, Jim on the banjo and Stub on the fiddle.
Mr. Foley served in the U.S. Army from January 1942-January 1945 in the South Pacific, mainly New Guinea and the Philippines.
He married Kathryn “Kitty” Coburn in 1946 and, to this union, eight children were born. In 2010, he was inducted into the Valley National 8-Ball Association International Hall of Fame for his love of and contribution to the game of pool. Survivors include his children, Linda (Harold) Koch, Culbertson, Neb.; Judie Schneider, Thornton, Colo.; Sandy Gregg, Reno, Nev.; Nancy (Wayne) Harvey, Terri Allen, Mike Foley and Joe (Koko) Foley, all of Northglenn, Colo.; and Gail (Wayne) Palone, Bennett, Colo.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kitty; grandson Matthew Foley; brothers, Joseph Foley Jr. and James Foley; and a sister, Mary Katherine “Kack” Hughes.
