John Louis Sanders 1924 - 2012 McLouth
John Louis Sanders, 87, McLouth, died Monday, June 25, 2012 at the St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. He was born Aug. 9, 1924 at McLouth, the son of Clarence George and Anna Mary Kimmel Sanders. A 1942 graduate of McLouth High School, he rented his first farmland when he was 17 and has farmed all his life on his family’s “Century Farm” in rural McLouth. He was a member of the McLouth Church of the Brethren and a 60 year member of the Lyra Masonic Lodge in McLouth and Tonganoxie. He served on the McLouth Board of Education for 23 years, the Watershed District Board, and served on the Board of Soil Conservation for Jefferson County for many years. He married Zelma Gay Tarr on July 26, 1948 at McLouth, she survives at the home. He is also survived by four daughters, Beverly (Rick) Muzzy, McLouth, Ronda (Jay) MowBray, Kansas City, MO., Lois (Ted) Uihlein, Sedona, AZ., Glenna (Jim) Kaup, Topeka, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 AM Friday, June 29, at the McLouth First Baptist Church. Burial was in the McLouth Cemetery. Visitation was from 10 to 11 AM Friday, June 29, at the church, prior to services. Memorials may be made to the McLouth First Baptist Church in care of Barnett Family Funeral Home, P. O.
