Eugene Voigt
Eugene Wilbur Voigt, 92, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 in Tonganoxie, KS. He was born October 5, 1920 to Ernest Edmund Voigt and Marie Anna Voigt. He was preceded in death by loving wife Lois Grace Voigt, brother, Miller R. Voigt, and a sister Virginia R. Voigt. He is survived his loving daughter Lois Marie Bol and husband David A. Bol, granddaughter Jennifer M Villalobos and husband Nelson, a great grandson Kingston Villalobos, grandson Aaron D. Bol, wife Mary Kate, nephew Rick Beebe, son Austin and a niece Stacie Phipps, cousins, Mary Alice and Palmer Lee, Stephanie Kessler, Davis and Debbie Moulden, Joetta Kaaz, Delores Lear.

Eugene attended Bauer Grade School, graduated from Piper High School and attended Kansas State University. He served in WWII, U. S. Army 44th Infantry, Division #3 Battalion HOCO January 1943, honorable discharged in November 1945. He was involved in European Invasion Germany, France and Austria. Eugene was lifetime farmer and dairyman until 1969 and member of VFW Basehor; lifetime member DAV since 1975,charter member of WWII National Memorial, Washington D.C., charter member of Basehor Fire Department Elected Trustee of Fairmont Township, Elm Grove School Board member 1960 – 1962, Basehor-Linwood #458 School Board member 1966 -1967, Charter member of Emmaus Lutheran Church 1967, Elder of Emmaus Lutheran Church 1970-75, 1980 -1983, Chairman 1970-1983 resumed elder 1988 – 1994, current member of Risen Savior Lutheran Church, Basehor, KS. In his retirement Eugene wrote a book of his history, enjoyed creating wood working projects and traveling to New York to visit his daughter, Lois and her family.
