Patti Rosenberger Huebner
Patti Rosenberger Huebner, Tonganoxie, KS, passed away quietly surrounded by family on March 15, 2013.
Funeral service will be 11 am Thursday March 21, 2013 at the Tonganoxie Christian Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday at the Quisenberry Funeral Home 4th and Delaware, Tonganoxie. Burial will be private.
Patti was born October 24, 1926 in Louisville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Martin and Addie Rosenberger of Valley Station, Kentucky. She grew up with her brother Plenge (Neb) and sister Martie Lee on the family farm along the Ohio River in Valley Station. Patti graduated from Valley High School and attended the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville.
On November 24, 1945 she married Don C. Huebner Jr. of Pleasure Ridge, KY. With their four children they lived in Valley Station from 1945-1953, Roeland Park, KS from 1953-1963, and Tonganoxie from 1963-present. In 1976 Patti joined Don in the Huebner Insurance Agency serving as Office Manager until 1986.
Patti was very active in many organizations such as PEO where she served in several roles for this volunteer service organization focused on improving lives of women and girls, AFS where she and Don were host family to several foreign exchange students, and the Tonganoxie Historical Society.
Patti led a very active outdoor life. She enjoyed boating and swimming at the family lake house, snow skiing in Colorado, and gardening at the farm.
She was also an avid reader, loved visiting American historical homes, and was an exceptional cook and seamstress. Patti especially loved making clothes, quilts and dolls for her grandchildren.
Patti grew up in the Baptist Church and for the past 60 years was an active member of the Nall Avenue Baptist Church while living in Roeland Park and of the Tonganoxie Christian Church, where she faithfully served in many leadership roles.
Patti’s (Granny) love of family was always evident. She loved hosting family gatherings at the farm. She and Don traveled frequently with their children and grandchildren, and she enjoyed attending family reunions in Kentucky, spending time with her large extended family.
Patti is survived by husband, Don of the home; two sons, David and wife Vicki, Flemington, NJ, Larry and wife Pam, Overland Park, KS; two daughters, Jill Giddings and husband Monte, Olathe, KS, Donna Klinock and husband Mike, Leawood, KS; one sister, Martie Lee Korfhage, Shepherdsville, KY; 8 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Comfort Care Homes and Grace Hospice for their loving care of Patti.
