Robert “Bob” Lee Wirthman, 72, Lawrence, KS, died on March 7, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church 6001 Bob Billings Parkway, Lawrence, KS. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Kansas City, KS. Friends may call from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary 120 W. 13th St. Lawrence, KS. The rosary will be said at 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Sister Servants of Mary, 800 N. 18th St. Kansas City, KS or Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
Bob was born October 7, 1941 in Kansas City, KS the son of Michael and Marie Wirthman. He attended Tonganoxie High School and was in the Steel Business. He worked for Havens Steel Co. for 33 years until retiring in 2003. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, and Iron Workers Local 10. His life was all about family, the KU Jayhawks and using his numerous skills to help everyone.
He leaves his wife, Carol; his brother, Henry Wirthman, Tonganoxie, KS; his children, Christopher Wirthman (Danielle) Lawrence, KS, Kari Abraham (Stan) Phoenix, AZ, Mischel Baccabino (Charles) Glendale, AZ, Gail Kelsey (David) Lawrence, KS; Albert Colnar, Lenexa, KS, Deborah Smith, Lawrence, KS, Ralph Seutter (Ruth) Virginia Beach, VA and Sherry Colnar, Kansas City, KS; thirteen grandchildren, Michal Wirthman, Christian and Jeremiah Barbe, Rachel and Wesley Abraham, Stephanie and Adam Wirthman, Jack and Charlie Kelsey, Kyle and Erin Colnar, Joel and Ashley Seutter; a niece, Vicki Kinkade (Bill) and children; nephews, Craig Janes (Denise) and John Janes and children. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Seutter.
We will all miss Bob’s helpful, loving attitude and his wonderful smile.
