Marjorie M. Reed

Marjorie M. “Marge” Reed, 73 of McLouth, died Saturday, June 13, 2015 at her home. A lifelong resident of Jefferson County, “Marge” was born June 22, 1941 in rural Oskaloosa, the oldest of six children of Harold Eugene and Dorothy Maxine Spielman Elkinton. She was a 1959 graduate of Oskaloosa High School and attended Emporia State University for a year. A devoted wife and mother, she had worked for many years for Certified Public Accounting firms in Lawrence. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in, McLouth and enjoyed spending time with her church family. She was married to Harold S. Reed on April 15, 1961 at Oskaloosa, He survives at the home. She is also survived by three daughters, Cynthia Ann Reed (John) Buettner, Shawnee, Susan Beth Reed, Ft. Collins, CO, Kristie Lynn (Dan) Evans, McLouth, three brothers, Eldon Elkinton, Gardner, Duane Elkinton, Oskaloosa, Larry Elkinton, Oskaloosa, two sisters, Marlene Wegner, Parsons, Joyce Fair, McLouth, and three granddaughters, Olivia Evans, Emma Evans, and Alyssa Buettner.
Grave Side Services will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 17 at Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, at Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa.
