Herbert Robbins

Herbert Eugene Robbins of Wheatland, Missouri entered his eternal home on Monday morning, March 19, 2018. He was 86. Herb was born July 13, 1931 in Kansas City, Kansas to Harry and Esther (Roberts) Robbins. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Wanda Peterson on January 13, 1951. Their union was blessed with three children, Carolyn Mark, Springfield, Missouri, Lawrence Robbins and wife Sherri, Humansville, Missouri, and Diane Robbins and Les McPeak of Humansville, Missouri. His life was graced with grandchildren of whom he was so proud: Jennifer Wilson and husband Alan, Amanda Mark and fiance Mike Derby, Keith Marquis and wife Stefanie, Kyle Marquis and wife Amanda, Luke Routh, and Nick Morello and wife Julie. He cherished each of his great grandchildren and loved them all dearly: Bryce Wilson, and wife Mikayla, Audrey Wilson, Quade Marquis, Cash Marquis, Keith Marquis, Blaike Medina, Brady Medina, Allyanna Marquis, Cameron Morello, and Sadie Morello. He also leaves behind one brother, Charles Robbins of Lebanon, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews. Herb and Wanda were actively involved in their family’s lives. They were cheerleaders at baseball and basketball games, watching cattle shows for hours, rooting at rodeos, and sharing experiences with them as they poured into their grandchildren’s’ lives. Herb and Wanda and their faithful traveling buddy, Rubin, loved to go and logged many miles in the minivan. Herb retired from Midwest Carpet, Inc. of Tonganoxie, Kansas as well as driving a school bus for the Tonganoxie USD 464 School District. He proudly served on the Tonganoxie City Council from 19751981 and as the city’s Mayor from 19871999. He was humbled to serve his community in these capacities. Herb was a founding member and deacon of West Haven Baptist Church, Tonganoxie, Kansas. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the Hathaway Peterman Funeral Home in Wheatland, Missouri. The family received friends from 12:00 PM with the service beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial followed the service at the Dooley Bend Cemetery in Wheatland.
