95, of the Basehor and Tonganoxie, KS areas passed away on Saturday, January 8th, 2022, at the Parkway Care Home in Edwardsville, KS. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm, Thursday evening, Jan. 13, and the Funeral will be at 11 am, Friday morning, Jan. 14 both at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS with burial to follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City, KS. Harry loved the Lord, his family and country. He was born on Oct. 16, 1926. His parents were Frank and Iva Mae (Clemence) Hiatt and he was a lifelong area resident of Kansas City, KS moving to the farm in the Basehor/Tonganoxie area in 1969. He graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1944. He joined the U.S. Marines during WWII and served on the USS Saratoga where he was injured. Through the years he was involved in Boy Scouts, the Basehor 4H and Trail­Riders. He liked to fish, hunt and loved spending time with family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren loved spending time with him and have many happy memories with Grandpa Harry and Grandma Lotus. He worked for Heath Electric and later was a superintendent for Urban Renewal in the Rosedale Argentine Area. He raised Hereford Cattle and cut hundreds of cords of firewood and was a “Ring Man” with Hiatt Auction Service. He was known as a Community Volunteer, helping others that needed it. He was a member of Stony Point Christian Church in the early 60 ‘s and later attended Sheffield Assembly of God in Kansas City, MO where he served as an elder. He enjoyed writing stories and poems. He mostly valued sharing his faith in Jesus with others. He was preceded in death by his wife and sweetheart of almost 70 years Lotus Lee Hiatt in 2016, one infant daughter Carolyn Lee in 1960, one son Donald Lee Hiatt, two granddaughters: Mackenzie Ryann Hernandez and Chelsey Ryann Updike, his parents and his brother Pete Hiatt. He leaves his family on earth: 3 sons David Lee Hiatt and his wife Darlene; Daniel Lee Hiatt and his wife Sherry; and Dennis Lee Hiatt and his wife Nena, 13 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and one great­-great grandson.
