"I lived in New Jersey when I was growing up. My favorite elementary school memory is the class trip we took to Washington DC. Visiting our nation's Capital was an amazing adventure for a little kid. I remember my friends and I raced up the stairs of the Washington Monument. We felt pretty good about ourselves when we made it to the last of the 897 steps and could still stand!"

“Nap time, hands down. I still wish we had it. I find it amusing that back then we hated it and adults told us that we will want it someday. We thought they were silly and shrugged it off. Now we all say ‘Give it back!’ ”

“In my kindergarten classroom, there was an alphabet carpet on the floor, much like the one in the children's section at the library today, only square. I can remember sitting on a letter and listening to the teacher as she used puppets to tell stories about the new letters we were learning.”
