The wait is almost over for commuters who’ve had to reroute their drives for the construction work preventing access to U.S. 24-40 from Kansas Highway 7. The interchange project at U.S. 24-40 and K-7 is scheduled to be completed and reopened to all traffic mid-December 2008, weather permitting. The project is in varying stages of paving for eastbound U.S.-24-40, southbound K-7, and all associated ramps, said Kansas Department of Transportation spokeswoman Kimberly Qualls, and portions of the project may open at varying times in the next six weeks.
