Tonganoxie Elementary School counselor Connie Weltha and her golden retrievers Bo (left) and Chip have teamed up to make the school a more friendly place for four years. Among other things, the dogs, registered as therapy dogs with the American Kennel Club, provide positive rewards for students and classrooms and help calm children with emotional problems.

Do you have any big summer trips planned, or will you take the staycation route?
We have family who live in Wisconsin, so we will go up to see them. We will do lots of fishing or sleeping in the boat, depending on what’s biting. We will be around Tongie most of the summer to help prepare our kids for their fall seasons, too.”
