McLouth High softball team looks to reach state again

McLouth High softball has some sizable cleats to fill, but coach Ballard Patterson usually finds a way to reload. Gone this year is Konner Patterson first-team all-state selection all four years. The third base specialist now is playing at Highland Community College. Catcher Amber McCown now is playing at Southwestern College in Winfield. And the team’s third senior from last year, Kayla Steffey, who also competed in track for the Bulldogs, played right field.

Konner Patterson had seen this situation before. An early McLouth High lead evaporated with a trip to the state tournament on the line, setting up a do-or-die situation in the seventh inning.
