Tonganoxie Middle School teachers help their colleague celebrate his final year in teaching. Chris Weller completed his final last day of school Friday in the Tonganoxie school district. He taught industrial arts in grades 6-9 at various times during his 39 years in the district. Crossing the finish line: Longtime Tonganoxie educator who also coached track, basketball, retires after 39 years in district

Chris Weller and a buddy at Solomon High School decided during their sophomore year that they wanted to go into education as industrial arts instructors. Both went to Fort Hays State University after SHS to major in education. That friend was Pete Meagher, who finished his teaching career in industrial arts at Salina Central High School a few years ago.
