Miege was the defending Class 4A champions. Tonganoxie returns to state after a one-season hiatus. THS last advanced to state in 2019 and then the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eudora upset Tonganoxie this past season in a regional championship game on the Benedictine College campus in Atchison.

DETHRONING THE STAGS: Tonganoxie baseball wins comeback thriller against Miege, likely will be No. 2 seed at state

Tonganoxie High is headed to state baseball for the first time since 2019 and will be the No. 2 seed. The Chieftains won an instant classic Tuesday in a Class 4A regional on their home field. THS, the No. 1 seed in the East Bracket, dropped No. 16 Holton, 10-0, and then rallied against defending state champion Bishop Miege in the regional final.
