A giant cow owned by Roberts Dairy made Basehor-Linwood High School the unmistakable site of the 2008 Basehor Dairy Days festival Saturday. Hundreds of guests flocked to the third annual event, which celebrated Basehor’s century-old dairy heritage.

A cowboy clown knots a balloon for 8-year-old Rylea Oliver, of Basehor. Children also clowned around on inflatable games, rode a mechanical bull and enjoyed free yogurt and milk — compliments of Roberts Dairy — at this year’s Basehor Dairy Days.

Paul Wilburn (orchestra teacher at BLHS), Doug Rippee, Doug Doering and Barry Brown of The Stranger Creek String Band were a hit at the Basehor Dairy Days celebration. Many guests at Saturday’s event caught some old-fashioned bluegrass while munching on buffalo burgers cooked by Basehor Lions Club members or hotdogs and snow cones prepared by members of Bob Wiley Memorial VFW Post 11499.
