The 1967 Class of McLouth High School will meet for its Laughing Lunch at noon Oct. 19 at Rice House in Tonganoxie. The restaurant is just off East U.S. Highway 24-40 next to Gambino’s. All classmates are invited to attend the regular gathering.

Rosie Oelschlaeger had lunch with Gary and Linda Blanton on March 7 at Jerry’s Again in Atchison. Rosie Oelshlaeger and Marilyn Oxley visited Rosie’s brother, Eugene Sawyer and Terri Morris of Holton on March 8. Two of Tammy Mooberry’s friends took her with them to Mardi Gras earlier this month.

The upcoming pancake supper was discussed. It will be 5-7 p.m. March 18. It was decided to add fruit to the menu. Marilyn Oxley filled in for Rosie as program leader and Nila Denholm served as hostess and served ice cream sandwiches to members Elaine Gnasch, Marilyn Oxley, Faye Cleavinger, Frances Jeannin, Thamar Barnett and the Rev. Larry Grove. The next meeting will be March 17 and the group will set up tables and chairs for the supper.

Apologies for no news for a couple weeks. I have been down with a respiratory infection. I am better now. Due to the recent threatening ice storms, people didn’t get out unless they had to.

Leavenworth County Road 1 improvement project will cost just under $13 million. The county has committed $8 million in sales tax revenues, while the Kansas Turnpike Authority has said it would pay $2 million. The county was hopeful that another million would be coming from the federal government, but that was placed on hold following the November election.
