Letter: Humane Society not anti-farmers

HSUS is not an animal welfare organization. When it was taken over some years back by Wayne Pacelle and his fanatical vegans, it became an "animal rights" organization which is vastly different.

HSUS may not be against farming as long as it is the farming of veggies but there are many quotes from HSUS bigwigs that I could post that show that HSUS is working hard against farming that deals with animals. Here are just two:

"We have no ethical obligation to preserve the different breeds of livestock produced through selective breeding. . One generation and out. We have no problem with the extinction of domestic animals. They are creations of human selective breeding." Wayne Pacelle, CEO of Humane Society of the US, formerly of Friends of Animals and Fund for Animals, quoted in Animal People, May, 1993

"My goal is the abolition of all animal agriculture." JP Goodwin, employed at the Humane Society of the US, formerly at Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade, as quoted on AR-Views, an animal rights Internet discussion group in 1996.

P.S. to Mr Buck: I'm definitely from the left wing as are many of my friends who are also working hard to stop HSUS. Just because we think that people are more important than corporations <G> doesn't mean that we don't find the HSUS agenda despicable. Combating "animal rights" fanaticism is definitely a bi-partisan issue.
