Tonganoxie council member, former administrator facing off in Leavenworth County Commission race

Jumairs,
Again, the question is not who made the decision to build where and why but it is how to make it all work now that that decision was made years ago. Now that's my opinion and I will stick with it.

Where did you hear that Mr Peak was against the wage Mr. Yanez received for being a partime administrator? That he worked for the post office doesn't matter. You could of worked for the postal service to if you would of just filled out a application to work there.
Its not Mary O'brien it's Connie. You should apologize to her for not knowing who your Representatives are.
There you go again, Chief Carpenter retired over a year ago. There is another sheriff in town so maybe you should go introduce your self to him at the police station which is presently located downtown Tonganoxie. It's has them cars with the fancy red lights on them. Again the new Chief has sold 5 or 6 ( I could be wrong on the number) of the police cars in the last year. How many more should we get rid of?
Again where did you hear that the new BPU water line would not furnish enough water for Tonganoxie? That's a new one. It supplies the whole town and not just south side of Tonganoxie. Get your facts straight before you speak.

jumairs,
Dennis and Bill are the only two councilmen who want to keep the police station downtown. For wanting that why do you call them isolationists? Seems to me it would be a great idea since there are so many open buildings downtown already. Also, more roof tops don't really add much more tax base, industry does. They are trying to support that in the industrial park south of town. Are you only a progressive if you spend money on things that you could get by with less. Almost sounds like you have a big white elephant that you want to dump on the city.

We have elected these men to run our city. Again you had a chance to be part of this and you chose to sit on the sideline and judge these two men and assasinate their character and run down their opinions because they don't feel the same way as you. Too bad. That's real Christian. They voted to not renew his contract in public and also Mr. Gilner voted to not renew his contract also, yet his name doesn't enter into this converstion. Why not? Is he a isolationist also? Get off you soap box and move on. They must of had good reason to vote this way.

I want to commend Mr. Peak for telling it like it is. The city managers contract was not renewed. He was not fired. He is in charge of the budget and he is responsible for informing the council so that they can make a informed decission. If you have ever looked at the budget it is hard to make heads or tails of how much money is in it or where the money comes from to purchased something. I have a great respect for anyone who wants to run for the coucil seats and to put up with people who talk a good game but don't want to participate. It is easy to coach from your living room and condem the folks that are willing to serve this community free of charge( by the way) and then have to listen to jumairs and others that have no idea of what is going on. If you have a problem with any of the councilmen you should contact them and sit down and talk to them face to face not over this stupid blog.
The question is who would make a better commissioner. Who is better qualified or what their track record is. So keep your comments on the subject and quit coaching from the sideline. Get involved, attend the city council meetings, talk to your representives. Unless you attend each meeting you will never know full hand what goes on there from just reading the paper. Get off your couch and get envolved in this city.

Council votes to move Tonganoxie Police Department across street amid basement issues

If you happened to see and hear what our Mayor said on Channel 9 news Tuesday evening he said that they thought the police station had been fixed. They knew there had been some water problems in the past. So now they are bringing in another person to if the problem they have is mold or not and if it is they will address that issue.
My question is when did they fix it and what did they do to fix it?
There was a nice commentary piece in last weeks paper that was quite educational. You might read it when you have time.
