Lucy Rieke, McLouth, pats the shell of Harry, a sulcatta tortoise that made an appearance at Saturday's turtle race. Harry's owner, Cheryl Dufresne of Leavenworth, brings Harry to the turtle race each year for youths to see. At 50 pounds, Harry, who is 11, is too big for the turtle race. Dufresne said she tried to enter Harry in the race 5 years ago but he was too big for the race course. She's brought him to the event each year as a spectator ever since. Harry is eating watermelon, a rare treat, Dufresne said.
