To the editor: City officials’ computer audit should be conducted

Sounds like a good idea. What do we not pay for out of the City's Budget to get this done? Without the policy in place first, people being let go because of actions prior to that policy being set opens up a whole other can of worms.

Does beg the question: Why wasn't there a Computer Policy in place? Computers have only been around about 30 years.

Mayor Mike Vestal resigns

This problem stemmed from something that should have never happened in the first place. You do not put someone in a job who is also the boss of the person they report to. (i.e.--answer service reports to police chief reports to mayor) It is called a conflict of interest. This was knowingly admitted at the council meeting.

Agreed this person made a serious error and should be punished. This would have led to dismissal in most workplaces, but not all. The fact that there was a cover-up can be disputed. Personnel matters between an employee, their employer, and a contracted business are not always going to be public record. But that is beside the point. He should have never held that position to begin with. That would have saved us the embarrassment of someone viewing pornography on a city machine, questioning the efficacy of a duplicitous answering service, and the ruination of a good man.

Vestal sends email containing nude images to council member's brother

Some things don't get a second chance. No matter what your opinion on what he did, some things don't take place at work. Be creepy on your own time, not on my dime.

What types of businesses would you like to see in downtown Tonganoxie as another building, the post office, will stand vacant when the new post office building is finished?

Jason2007 might have said it a little bluntly, but its true. Just cause the buildings are falling apart doesn't make them historical. Some new restaurants downtown would be nice. You have one place that can't ever figure out when its open, and another that charges exorbitant prices for the 'fine-dining experience'.

I rarely shop in Tonganoxie.....I can only hope that someday we get a real grocery store that actually keeps choices stocked on the shelves, and people with customer service skills manning the register.
