...A FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CDT FOR
CHEROKEE AND CRAWFORD COUNTIES...
AT 720 AM CDT...LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS REPORTED THAT
EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WAS PRODUCING FLASH FLOODING ACROSS THE WARNED
AREA. MUCH OF THE AREA RECEIVED TWO AND A HALF TO THREE AND A HALF
INCHES OF RAINFALL OVERNIGHT. SEVERAL ROADS ACROSS CHEROKEE COUNTY
REMAIN FLOODED AND IMPASSABLE. LOCAL CREEK AND STREAM GAUGES ALSO
INDICATE THAT WATER LEVELS CONTINUE TO RISE DUE TO RAPID RUNOFF.
THIS INCLUDES LIGHTNING CREEK WHICH IS CURRENTLY OUT OF ITS BANKS.
RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL IS CAUSING FLASH FLOODING.

CARONA...CHEROKEE...COLUMBUS...ENGLEVALE...FRONTENAC...GALENA...
GIRARD...HEPLER...MCCUNE...MULBERRY...PITTSBURG...SCAMMON...TREECE...
WEIR AND WEST MINERAL. CREEKS...STREAMS AND LOW WATER CROSSINGS WILL
BE ESPECIALLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE DANGERS OF FLASH FLOODING.
