...NARROW BAND OF ACCUMULATING SNOW EXPECTED THIS EVENING AND
TONIGHT...
.AN APPROACHING UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL RESULT IN A NARROW
SWATH OF SNOW ACROSS THE REGION THIS EVENING INTO THE OVERNIGHT
HOURS. SNOW WILL BEGIN AS SLEET AND GRADUALLY CHANGE OVER TO ALL
SNOW. A BAND OF SNOW WILL QUICKLY SPREAD FROM WEST TO EAST
ACROSS THE REGION LATE THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT AND WILL THEN
END FROM WEST TO EAST LATE TONIGHT INTO EARLY THURSDAY MORNING.
THE SNOW WILL BRIEFLY BE MODERATE TO HEAVY AT TIMES RESULTING IN
RESTRICTED VISIBILITIES AND POOR ROAD CONDITIONS. TOTAL
ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES ARE EXPECTED...WITH LOCALIZED
AMOUNTS UP TO 4 INCHES POSSIBLE. THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED
TO BE CENTERED AROUND A JOPLIN TO SPRINGFIELD TO SALEM LINE...WITH
AMOUNTS QUICKLY BECOMING LIGHTER THE FURTHER NORTH AND SOUTH ONE
TRAVELS FROM THIS LINE.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND SLEET REMAINS IN EFFECT
UNTIL 6 AM CST THURSDAY.
* SHORT TERM TRENDS...AN AREA OF SLEET CONTINUES TO PUSH ACROSS
PORTIONS OF THE MISSOURI OZARKS THIS EVENING. THE SLEET WILL
EVENTUALLY MIX WITH AND CHANGE TO ALL SNOW LATE THIS EVENING AND
OVERNIGHT. A BAND OF SNOW WILL THEN OVERSPREAD THE ADVISORY AREA
FROM WEST TO EAST THIS EVENING. ROADWAYS WERE ALREADY STARTING
TO BECOME PARTIALLY COVERED WHERE THE SLEET HAS ALREADY OCCURRED
AND CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE TO DETERIORATE DURING THE OVERNIGHT
HOURS.
* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...THE ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT THIS
EVENING AND OVERNIGHT FOR AREAS GENERALLY NORTH OF AN ANDERSON
TO GALENA TO AVA TO EMINENCE MISSOURI LINE AND SOUTH OF A
PITTSBURG KANSAS TO BOLIVAR TO LEBANON TO WAYNESVILLE MISSOURI
LINE.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...ONE TO THREE INCHES WITH LOCALIZED AMOUNTS
UP TO FOUR INCHES. THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED TO BE
CENTERED AROUND A JOPLIN TO SPRINGFIELD TO SALEM LINE...WITH
AMOUNTS QUICKLY BECOMING LIGHTER THE FURTHER NORTH AND SOUTH ONE
TRAVELS FROM THIS LINE.
* VISIBILITY...THE VISIBILITY WILL BE REDUCED DOWN TO LESS THAN A
MILE AT TIMES. LOCALIZED VISIBILITIES OF A HALF MILE OR LESS CAN
BE EXPECTED WITHIN AREAS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW.
* IMPACTS...THE OCCASIONAL MODERATE TO HEAVY INTENSITY OF SNOW
ALONG WITH THE FROZEN GROUND WILL RESULT IN RAPIDLY
DETERIORATING ROAD CONDITIONS THIS EVENING. VISIBILITIES WILL
ALSO BE RESTRICTED RESULTING IN POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS DRIVING
CONDITIONS.
