A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY EVENING
THROUGH LATE SUNDAY NIGHT.
* TIMING...PRECIPITATION WILL LIKELY BEGIN BETWEEN 7 PM AND 10 PM
SATURDAY EVENING IN THE WATCH AREA. SLEET WILL LIKELY FALL
INITIALLY...WITH A CHANGE OVER TO SNOW FROM NORTH TO SOUTH
THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING. PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH
THE DAY ON SUNDAY BEFORE COMING TO AN END ON SUNDAY EVENING.
* TOTAL SNOW AND ICE ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION IN THE
WATCH AREA WILL RANGE FROM 3 TO 8 INCHES...WHILE A TENTH UP TO
AN INCH OF SLEET MAY ACCUMULATE. THE MOST LIKELY AXIS FOR HEAVY
SNOW AMOUNTS EXTENDS FROM NEAR COUNCIL GROVE THROUGH LAWRENCE
WHILE THE MOST LIKELY AXIS FOR HEAVY SLEET ACCUMULATION IN
ADDITION TO SNOW IS SOUTH OF AN EMPORIA TO OTTAWA LINE.
* WINDS...NORTH TO NORTHEAST WINDS WILL CONSISTENTLY RANGE FROM 15
TO 25 MPH...WITH OCCASIONAL GUSTS UP TO 35 MPH.
* WIND CHILL...WIND CHILLS WILL RANGE FROM NEGATIVE 8 TO NEGATIVE
18 DEGREES FROM SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY...AND MAY FALL
BELOW NEGATIVE 20 ON SUNDAY NIGHT.
* IMPACTS...SNOW-COVERED AND ICY ROAD CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY...
WHICH WILL RESULT IN DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS TRAVELING
CONDITIONS. HYPOTHERMIA AND FROSTBITE COULD OCCUR QUICKLY FOR
PERSONS EXPOSED TO THE COLD.
