...WINTER RETURNS SUNDAY...
An intense cold front is expected to sweep through Kansas Saturday
night and Sunday morning. Prior to the cold front`s arrival,
widespread rain is expected Saturday night. As the much colder air
arrives, the rain will change to snow from northwest to southeast
Sunday morning. The heaviest snowfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches are
expected across Hamilton, Kearny, Scott, Lane, Trego and Ellis
counties. Across these counties, snow and blowing snow will
impact travel Sunday into Sunday evening. Lesser snow amounts are
expected with southern extent. Snow showers will end Sunday
While some snow is expected, it is emphasized that the primary
impact from this cold front will be unseasonably cold air and
intense north winds on Sunday. With air temperatures falling
below freezing during the day Sunday, and north winds gusting to
50 mph, wind chills will become very uncomfortable, falling into
the teens. Prepare cars, homes, pets and livestock for this first
taste of winter weather.
Widespread hard killing freezes are expected Sunday afternoon
through Monday morning, and again Tuesday morning.
