...HEAVY RAINFALL EXPECTED LATE THIS EVENING INTO TUESDAY
MORNING...
.A VERY MOIST AIRMASS IS SPREADING NORTH INTO THE REGION. SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP AND INCREASE IN COVERAGE ACROSS
THE AREA LATE THIS EVENING INTO TUESDAY MORNING AS A LOW LEVEL
JET AND UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE OVERSPREAD THE AREA. THESE
FEATURES WILL LIKELY BRING MULTIPLE ROUNDS OF SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE AREA LATE THIS EVENING INTO TUESDAY
MORNING. THE VERY MOIST AIRMASS WILL LEAD TO HIGH RAINFALL RATES
AND ANY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE PROFICIENT RAINFALL
PRODUCERS.
RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL GENERALLY RANGE FROM 1 TO 3 INCHES ACROSS
THE ENTIRE AREA WITH THE HEAVIEST AMOUNTS EXPECTED NORTH OF
HIGHWAY 60. AREAS WEST OF HIGHWAY 65 HAVE RECEIVED MORE RAINFALL
IN THE RECENT WEEK AND THIS HEAVY RAINFALL WILL LIKELY LEAD TO
FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS INCLUDING LOW WATER CROSSINGS
ALONG AND WEST OF A SPRINGFIELD TO WARSAW MISSOURI LINE.
...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING...
THE FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR
* PORTIONS OF SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS AND SOUTHWESTERN MISSOURI
GENERALLY ALONG AND WEST OF HIGHWAY 65.
* THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING
* THUNDERSTORMS WILL PRODUCE VERY HEAVY RAINFALL TONIGHT INTO
TUESDAY MORNING. TOTAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 3 INCHES WITH
LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS IN EXCESS OF 4 INCHES ARE EXPECTED
GENERALLY ALONG AND WEST OF A LINE FROM SPRINGFIELD TO WARSAW.
TORRENTIAL RAINFALL RATES UP TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR COULD LEAD TO
A RAPID ONSET OF FLASH FLOODING.
* MULTIPLE ROUNDS OF STORMS WILL RESULT IN EXCESSIVE RAINFALL THAT
MAY PRODUCE DANGEROUS FLASH FLOODING OF LOW WATER
CROSSINGS...SMALL STREAMS...AND FLOOD PRONE AREAS.
SIGNIFICANT RISES AND FLOODING ON LARGER STREAMS AND RIVERS
WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE.
THE INGREDIENTS ARE COMING TOGETHER FOR THE POTENTIAL OF
SIGNIFICANT FLASH FLOODING OVERNIGHT. THOSE LIVING IN FLOOD
PRONE AREAS...OR CAMPING ALONG AREA STREAMS SHOULD BE ALERT FOR
RAPIDLY RISING WATER LEVELS.
FLOODING MAY BE ONGOING ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE AREA TUESDAY
MORNING. BE ALERT FOR FLOODED ROADS AND LOW WATER
CROSSINGS...AND NEVER DRIVE ACROSS ROADS THAT ARE UNDER WATER.
