PARTS OF THE PENNYRILE OF WEST KENTUCKY...STRETCHING FROM KENTUCKY
LAKE AND HOPKINSVILLE KENTUCKY...NORTHWEST INTO THE SOUTHERN
ILLINOIS SOUTH OF ROUTE 13...AND EXTENDING BACK TOWARD MARBLE HILL
AND PERRYVILLE MISSOURI WILL LIKELY SEE PERIODIC THUNDERSTORM
ACTIVITY THROUGH 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING.
LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN...BETWEEN THREE QUARTERS TO ONE AND ONE QUARTER
OF AN INCH AN HOUR...FREQUENT LIGHTNING...AND BRIEF WIND GUSTS
BETWEEN 30 AND 40 MPH WILL BE LIKELY WITH STRONGER STORMS AS THEY
DEVELOP...THEN COLLAPSE DURING THE EARLY EVENING HOURS.
THESE THUNDERSTORMS MAY CAUSE SMALL DITCHES AND CREEKS TO BRIEFLY
OVERFLOW. SOME LOW LYING AREAS AND FLOOD PRONE ROADWAYS MAY ALSO
BE INUNDATED WITH WATER FOR A SHORT TIME.
LIGHTNING CAN BE A DANGEROUS KILLER IF YOU ARE OUTDOORS...SO STAY
IN A SAFE SHELTER INDOORS UNTIL THE THUNDERSTORM HAS PASSED YOUR
AREA FOR AT LEAST A HALF HOUR.
THE THUNDERSTORMS HAVE REACHED POINT THAT THEY ARE INTERACTING
WITH EACH OTHER AND ARE COVERING A LARGER AREA. IN THIS
ENVIRONMENT...THE POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE STORMS WILL DECREASE AS THE
EVENING PROGRESSES.
A VAST MAJORITY OF THE THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY SHOULD BEGIN TO
DECREASE RAPIDLY AFTER 800 PM CDT.
