...WINTER WEATHER EXPECTED ACROSS THE REGION THIS WEEKEND...
A STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING ACCUMULATING SNOW TO PARTS OF OUR
REGION SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY. RAIN IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ON
SATURDAY...AND THEN BECOME MIXED WITH AND CHANGE TO SNOW ALONG AND
NORTH OF INTERSTATE 70 ON SATURDAY NIGHT. BY SUNDAY...SNOW IS
EXPECTED ALONG AND NORTH OF THE INTERSTATE 70 CORRIDOR...WITH THE
RAIN GRADUALLY BECOMING MIXED WITH AND CHANGING OVER TO SNOW OVER
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI AND SOUTHWEST ILLINOIS.
EARLY INDICATIONS ARE THAT THE BRUNT OF THE STORM WILL IMPACT THE
REGION FROM SOUTHERN IOWA ACROSS NORTHERN ILLINOIS WHERE SNOWFALL
AMOUNTS OF 8 OR MORE INCHES ARE POSSIBLE. THE SNOWFALL AMOUNTS
WILL DECREASE AS YOU MOVE FURTHER SOUTH AND IT APPEARS THAT 6
INCHES OF SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER NORTHEAST MISSOURI AND WEST
CENTRAL ILLINOIS WHERE THERE IS NOW A WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT
FOR SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY. THE SNOWFALL WILL CONTINUE TO DECREASE
AS YOU HEAD SOUTH...WITH 1-2 INCHES ALONG THE INTERSTATE 70
CORRIDOR...AND LITTLE OR NO SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION ACROSS
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI.
THERE REMAINS HIGHER THAN NORMAL UNCERTAINTY ON THE TEMPERATURE
PROFILE OF THE ATMOSPHERE AND TRACK OF THE STORM CENTER...THUS
CHANGES IN THE CURRENTLY FORECAST SNOWFALL AMOUNTS ARE QUITE
POSSIBLE.
THOSE PLANNING TRAVEL ACROSS THE REGION SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY
MAY ENCOUNTER HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS...SO PLAN YOUR TRIP
ACCORDINGLY. PLEASE BE CERTAIN TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECAST
