...Very High Fire Danger Today...
Very high fire danger is expected today across eastern KS and
far western MO, while high fire danger is anticipated through the
remainder of the forecast area. Sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph
with gusts to 30 mph are expected, and will combine with relative
humidity as low as 30 to 35 percent this afternoon.
These conditions combined with a dormant grasses will considerably
raise the fire danger throughout the area, and will be favorable
for the rapid spread of any grass fires that ignite. As a result,
outdoor burning is very highly discouraged today.
