...Patchy Freezing Fog likely through daybreak...
If you are traveling or planning travel through daybreak over
parts of southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, or the Purchase
area of west Kentucky, be watchful for patchy freezing fog. In
some locations, this fog may drop below a mile at times over a
short distance.
With temperatures below freezing, the fog will deposit a thin
layer of moisture on roadways and some elevated surfaces. For some
untreated or elevated roadways, this moisture may create a clear
layer of ice, known as black ice.
Drivers should exercise caution this morning while traveling on
bridges and overpasses and should avoid any quick braking. Adjust
your speed to the weather conditions and leave plenty of room
between yourself and other vehicles overnight.
Any fog should lift shortly after daybreak with conditions
improving markedly as the morning progresses.
