The Mirror is planning to publish holiday photographs

By Caroline Trowbridge - | Dec 8, 1999

It seems that holiday lights are shining on nearly every street in Tonganoxie. And many homes in the county also are beautifully decorated. It’s really fun to drive through town or out in the country, anticipating what might be around the next corner or curve.

During the next few weeks, Lisa Stevens John our news editor who takes such beautiful photographs will be out and about with her camera, searching for spectacular examples of holiday lights. We already have made a list of homes and businesses that we’d like to feature in the newspaper. But we’d like your ideas. Tell us about your home or business. Or let us know about your neighbors, if you think they deserve recognition.

Obviously, there are too many great decorating jobs out there for us to feature each one. But we’ll try to publish photos of several on Dec. 15 and Dec. 22.

Don’t forget to call us, (913) 845-2222, or fax us, (913) 845-9451. Or you can drop by our offices at 520 E. Fourth or mail a note to us at P.O. Box 920, Tonganoxie, Kan., 66086.

It should be a source of community pride that so many of us took advantage of the great fall weather to decorate for the holidays.

Area children are reminded that the Tonganoxie Post Office again will accept letters to Santa Claus. The Mirror plans to intercept some of those missives and publish them on Dec. 15 and Dec. 22.

The post office is holding an open house from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, which would be a great opportunity to mail letters to Santa.
