Vandalism of track a senseless act
It is a sad thing when community improvements are damaged or destroyed by vandalism. It happens everywhere, in cities and towns of all sizes.
Last week, we watched as police investigated vandalism at the new Tonganoxie High School track and football field.
The reactions we have received from patrons of the school district have been unanimous. They are outraged and disgusted, and rightly so.
A reward fund for information leading to the arrest of those responsible was created through local generosity.
We join with others in the community in expressing our concern about the vandalism to a project so obviously appreciated by the entire town.
We’re pleased the damage did not result in extensive or expensive repairs, and we thank those who are responsible for the reward fund.
We encourage anyone with information about this act to step forward. We cannot tolerate such destructive behavior in our community.
