Services for Verna E. Hubbel, 84, Basehor, were Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at Alden-Harrington Chapel in Bonner Springs. Burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Kansas City, Kan.

Mrs. Hubbel died Saturday, April 8, 2000 at Alterra Sterling House in Olathe. She was born Oct. 27, 1915, in Kansas City, Kan.

She was a member of the Basehor Baptist Church and Sumundawat Rebecca Lodge No. 3, Kansas City, Kan. She was employed at The Jones Store Co. for several years before she retired in 1977.

Her husband, Glen P. Hubbel, died in 1996. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol J. Criswell, and a granddaughter, Melanie A. Hubbel.

Survivors include two sons, Gary P. Criswell, Rye, Texas, and Glen P. Hubbel II, Norman, Okla.; a daughter, Theresa M. Lobdell, Olathe; a brother, Leory G. Stogsdill, Kansas City, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or to Basehor Baptist Church, sent in care of the funeral home.
