Commission plans review of apartments

By Caroline Trowbridge - | Feb 23, 2000

If all goes according to plan, Jack Cronemeyer will begin construction by April on a 40-unit apartment complex.

Cronemeyer’s plans will be reviewed by the Tonganoxie Planning Commission at its meeting next Wednesday night.

The development, to be called Rock Ridge Apartments, is planned for a 3.2-acre site on Ridge Street, just south of Cedar Hill Apartments. The complex will be constructed in phases, Cronemeyer said.

Eight of the 10 buildings will contain three-bedroom apartments, he said. The other two buildings will contain one-bedroom units.

Although he hasn’t finalized the amount yet, Cronemeyer has said rent for the three-bedroom units will be in the $675 range.

He hopes to start construction by April.

“We’re still plugging away,” he said.

Cronemeyer developed Cedar Hill Apartments with his father and sister. Those 53 units were sold about a year ago to Lawrence developer and property manager Doug Compton.
