A 65-year-old Lawrence woman was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital last week after a one-car accident on Kansas Highway 32. Barbara A. Wilkens, 65, Lawrence, was traveling east on the highway when her car slid off the south side of the highway. When she tried to return to the highway, her car traveled across the road, struck a guardrail on the north side of the highway, then returned across the road and struck a tree on the south side of the highway. The accident occurred about 8:35 a.m. Wednesday.
A vehicle driven by Diane Elliott, 25, Kansas City, Kan., was traveling west on Kansas Highway 16 when she went off the road and hit a tree at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Elliott was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by Leavenworth County EMS. A 4-month old passenger, Dakota Snitz, was also taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. The third passenger, Eric Snitz, 32, drove himself to the hospital. Elliott’s vehicle was totalled, according to sheriff’s reports. All three people have been released.
A Linwood man’s boat was stolen between 5 p.m. Sunday and 4 a.m. Monday. The estimated loss was $7,000, according to sheriff’s reports.
Two Tonganoxie residents reported the theft of two items after the Thursday night Tornado removed their storage shed from its location. A go-cart, estimated loss of $550, and a bowling ball, estimated loss of $40, were both taken from the location, sheriff’s reports said.
A vehicle driven by Kenneth Ketchum, 31, Tonganoxie, was traveling west on Evans Road at 7:45 a.m. Saturday when a vehicle driven by Dustin Ney, 21, Blue Springs, Mo., made a U-turn in front of Ketchum’s vehicle, forcing Ketchum off the road. He was transported to Providence Medical Center along with a passenger, Chris Meger, 15, according to sheriff’s reports. Both have been released.
