Grace M. Houdashelt

Graveside services for Grace M. Houdashelt, LeLoup, Kan., were Thursday at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.

Mrs. Houdashelt, 82, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at Olathe Medical Center.

She was born May 4, 1919, in Bonner Springs, the daughter of John and Hattie (Rattcliff) DeMaranville. She attended rural schools in the Bonner Springs area. In 1937, she moved to LeLoup.

She married William “Bill” Houdashelt on May 3, 1937, in Ottawa.

She was a lifelong homemaker. She also worked at the Hercules Army Ammunition Plan in DeSoto and Willis Nursery, Ottawa.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; two daughters, Mary And Detwiler, Ottawa, Kathy Brown, LeLoup; three sisters, Francis Theno, Bonner Springs, Thelma Coon, Bonner Springs, and Myrtle Gallop, Overland Park; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, John William Houdashelt; two brothers and a great-granddaughter.

Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa, handled arrangements.
