Obituary/Robert L. “Lou” Oxley
Services for Robert L. “Lou” Oxley, Tonganoxie, were Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at the Jarbalo United Methodist Church. Burial was in Fall Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Oxley, 75, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. He was born Aug. 27, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Robert K. and Gladys (Hurd) Oxley. He retired in 1994 from being western sales manager for Adco Corp., Jackson, Mich., dealing in architectural and automotive sealants.
He was a 1950 graduate of Miliken University, Decatur, Ill. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Oxley was a member of the Jarbalo United Methodist Church. He was a board member of the Rural Water District No. 8 and treasurer of the Fall Creek Cemetery Association, both in Leavenworth County. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth (Cook) Oxley. On Sept. 15, 1967, he married Marilyn Mews in Sioux Falls, S.D. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Greg Oxley, Great Falls, Va., Stewart Oxley, Tonganoxie, and Clayton Oxley, Lewisville, Texas; a daughter, Janet Turner, Boca Raton, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
