Obituary: Virginia Ruth Sullivan
Services for Virginia Ruth Sullivan, 74, Gardner, were Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at De Soto Baptist Church in De Soto. Burial was in De Soto Cemetery.
Mrs. Sullivan died Nov. 12, 2002, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe. She was born Sept. 8, 1928, in Pollack, Mo., the daughter of Floyd Orestus Hill and Josie Gaynel Wigsfield Hill.
Mrs. Sullivan, who moved to Gardner three years ago, had lived in De Soto for 49 years. She was an office manager for Deffenbaugh Industries for 23 years in Shawnee. After leaving Deffenbaugh, she worked part time for De Soto Mini Mart until last May.
Mrs. Sullivan was a member of De Soto Baptist Church and a former member of Calvary Baptist Church in Gardner. She was a member of the Ladies Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in De Soto and a former De Soto City Council member. She also was a member of the De Soto Sunshine Club, the Good Sam Stanley Steamers travel club and Country Kickers in Shawnee.
She married Harry Marvin Sullivan on May 30, 1975, in De Soto. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Robert Steven Amego, Leavenworth; three daughters, Linda Marie Dowding, Bonner Springs, Sharon L. Nichelson, Kansas City, Mo., and Donna L. Bardwell, Tonganoxie; four sisters, Annie Overstreet, Nixa, Mo., Irene Hackathron, Newton, Iowa, Mary Boyd, Tiffin, Iowa, and Donna Neighbors, Unionville, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A son, Wayne LeRoy Sullivan, died earlier.
