Obituary: Kenneth W. Shannon

Services for Kenneth W. Shannon, 90, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Joseph A. Butler and Son Funeral Home, 19th Street and Minnesota Avenue, Kansas City, Kan.

Mr. Shannon died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. He was born Sept. 2, 1912, in Carter, S.D., the son of Charles G. and Nettie M. (Webster) Shannon.

He married Beulah Farley in 1933. They later divorced. He married Margaret J. Fletchall on May 8, 1945, in Kansas City. She died Jan. 10, 2002.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and moved to Kansas City, Kan., after his discharge.

Mr. Shannon owned and operated Kenny’s Body Shop in Kansas City, Kan., from 1947 until 1985, when he retired.

Survivors include three sons, Bernard L. Shannon, Lodi, Calif., Kenneth J. Shannon, Tonganoxie, and Timothy M. Shannon, Kansas City, Kan.; two daughters, Janice A. Randolph, Colorado Springs, and Kathi J. Mullis, Lawrence; a brother, Carroll Shannon, Newport, Wash.; and two sisters, Marjorie Konvalin, Winner, S.D., and Ramolee Engel, Freemont, Neb.; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Presbyterian Manor, 7850 Freeman, Kansas City, Kan., 66112. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday.
