First-graders share Thanksgiving recipes

Editor’s note: These first-graders in Linda Vernon’s class at Tonganoxie Elementary School were kind enough to share their recipes for pumpkin pie, a favorite Thanksgiving dessert.

Get the bowl and put the milk in the bowl. Put it in the oven. Then put the bowl into the microwave. Let it cool off.

You would chop the pumpkin up and then you could put it in the microwave. Then you put some milk in it. Then you put some more stuff to go with it like some whipped cream or something. Then you have to put it in the oven for like two minutes. Then when you take it out, it will be a pie.

First you like buy a pumpkin. Then you chop it up. Take a pan and put some frosting on it when you’re done. Put it in the oven and then you’ve got a pumpkin pie.

Carve the pumpkin. Dip it into a bowl. Add butter. Stir in the milk. Cook it for 20 minutes.

I take a can of pumpkin in a can and then you take a bowl. Then you put it in the oven and then you take it out of the oven and let it cool off. Then you take a knife out of the drawer. Then you put it on the stove to cool.

How you make pumpkin pie is first you get a pack of pumpkin. Then you stir it. Then you put it in the oven. Then you put it on high and then you wait until it is done. Then you get it. It is ready and then get plates and then you can eat.

You first cut up a pumpkin and cook the seeds. Put that glob on the seeds. Take a half of a pumpkin and put that half pumpkin in the oven. Cook it and it’s gonna get warmer and warmer. Then get a butter knife and cut it in half Then you eat it.

You pick a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. Take the seeds out of the pumpkin. Cook the seeds. Then cook the pumpkin. Let the pie cool. Then you eat it.

Get a can of pumpkin and pour it into a mixing bowl and stir it up. Then put milk and butter in and stir it up again. Put it into the oven and let it cook for two minutes. Then you take it out and let it cool off. Then you can eat it.
