The teams went scoreless through two halves and an extra period, but in the second overtime, the Wildcats found the goal on their home field in Topeka and eliminated THS from the playoffs.

Under first-year coach Luke Denney, the Chieftains completed the season 7-9-1.

Last year, THS went 6-11-1 after losing in the second round of regionals.
