THS football players named to 4A squad
Kaleb Lawrence sacked quarterbacks and tackled running backs plenty of times this season. On Sunday, he was named to the all-state team for Class 4A by the Topeka Capital-Journal.
Lawrence, who also spent half of the season as a fullback in the Tonganoxie backfield, was one of four linebackers on the all-state defensive team. Lawrence, a 6-0 200-pound senior for the Chieftains, helped Tonganoxie to a 9-2 record. Other linebackers include Eudora’s Chris Durkin, Hayden’s Kyle Ingenthron and Goodland’s Brock Lohr.
Tonganoxie junior lineman Kent Fleming was named Class 4A honorable mention, as was senior Ross Starcher as a back.
McLouth junior Kevin Stewart also was named honorable mention as a running back for the 4-5 Bulldogs.
Other Kaw Valley League selections were: David Woods, sr., Mill Valley, honorable mention back in 5A; Alex Angelotti, sr., Piper all-4A offensive end; TJ Dorian, sr., Piper, honorable mention lineman in 4A; Garrett Weddle, sr., Piper, honorable mention back in 4A; John Tytla, sr., Lansing, honorable mention specialist; Danny McEvoy, sr., Immaculata, honorable mention end in 3A.
Other Delaware Valley League selections were: Jacob Hendee, jr., Pleasant Ridge, all-3A kicker; Ryan Dercher, sr., Pleasant Ridge, honorable mention lineman in 3A; Kyle Powers, sr., honorable mention lineman in 3A; Matt Koch, sr., Pleasant Ridge, honorable mention back in 3A; Chris Langley, jr., Pleasant Ridge, honorable mention back in 3A; Doug Self, sr., Valley Falls, honorable mention end in 2A; Miley Corey, sr., Troy, honorable mention lineman in 2A; Nolan Franken, sr., Troy, honorable mention back in 2A; Blake Hoffman, sr., Jefferson County North, honorable mention back in 2A; Beau Sigrist, sr.
