FSB plans new bank in Basehor
One Basehor bank moving south of its current location could be joined by another in coming months.
First State Bank and Trust and Community National Bank are both doing business inside the Basehor Town Square at U.S. Highway 24-40 and 155th Street. Officials from both institutions said plans are continuing to move to the south side of the highway.
Chris Donnelly, executive vice president of First State Bank and Trust, said plans are progressing to move the bank to the Pinehurst development on 24-40.
Pinehurst is a planned 98-acre development featuring lots for commercial, retail and residential uses.
A deal to move First State Bank and Trust is not yet final but Donnelly said bank officials and developers are confident they will complete an agreement.
First State Bank and Trust opened in Basehor in the late ’80s. The current building encompasses approximately 5,500 square feet but Donnelly said more space is required.
“We’re just flat out of room, right now,” he said.
Construction of a new Community National Bank facility, also located inside Pinehurst, is under way.
Copeland Construction, a Lee’s Summit, Mo., company, is building the new $2 million multilevel bank at the southeast corner of 24-40 and 158th Street. When completed, the new location will encompass 16,500 square feet.
Exterior construction of the new building slowed last week because of inclement weather but construction crews continued to work on the bank’s interior.
Debbie Breuer, vice president and branch manager of the Basehor branch of Community National Bank , said the new site should be completed by April or May.
